As a Technical Artist at Snowprint Studios you will be responsible for art related technical solutions, research and tools. Also frequently identify and solve problems, improve workflows and promote best practices, as well as being an active participant in a team effort of ensuring the highest overall quality of the visuals of the game.Also, the role includes creating, managing and providing visual effects, such as materials, particle effects, and other custom assets and content for both in-game and UI environments.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and improve the rendering performance.
  • Shader authoring for mobile and high-end platforms.
  • Create tools and asset pipelines for other artists.
  • Create particles and other visual effects.
  • Be responsible for lighting setup in projects.
  • Passion being the link between the content creators and software engineers.
  • Collaborate with artists to enable them push visual, technical and rendering limitations.
  • Work together in a team in a friendly and helpful environment where everyone helps each other
  • Take an active role to implement assets into the game as far as you can, and be open to learn how to take it even further
  • Contribute to all parts of the game development through playing, feedbacking and discussing the game with art director, artists, designers and programmers alike
  • Treat art as living, iterative assets that grow and change throughout the lifetime of the game

Requirements

  • Years of professional game development experience and understanding of art pipelines and game engines (preferably Unity3D).
  • Fluent in a variety of art tools, preferably Autodesk Maya, which is what we use at Snowprint Studios.
  • Have an eye and understanding for visual quality and fidelity. Fundamental understanding of game-engine rendering and their limitations.
  • Good knowledge of Unity and C#.
  • Good knowledge of shader authoring for mobile platforms.
  • Good knowledge in tools and methods used for profiling and optimizing rendering performance.
  • Strong understanding of content creation, modern workflows and graphics pipelines.
  • Good knowledge of particle systems, effects, timing and vfx esthetics.
  • Good knowledge of lighting and rendering. Deep belief that creating a great game is a team effort where every voice counts
  • Thrive for problem solving and finding solutions collaboratively in a small and nimble team
  • Curious and embracing new ideas, and never stop learning new or alternative techniques in game development
  • Attention to improving repeative, labourintensive and timeconsuming workflows.
  • English is the official language of Snowprint Studios, so fluency in English is essential

Nice-to-have

  • Experience developing mobile free-to-play games
  • Basic knowledge of low- and high poly modelling, uv’s, rigging, skinning and animation.
